The thing I love the most about mixed media is that there really aren’t many rules. For a freestyler like me it’s ideal being able to start with a blank canvas and let it take me wherever, based on whatever is to hand or happens to pop into my head.
I use strips of paper, tissue, newsprint and old book pages combined with paint, gelatos, pastels and various acrylic gel media to create layers and depth in my pieces. I also enjoy using random found objects and photographs in my work, with stamping, stencils, and hand lettering.
I made the lollies above by layering heavy structure gel skins with inks.
The sky really is the limit with Mixed Media and I particularly like experimenting with texture and discovering what effects can be achieved with each different acrylic medium. You can follow my adventures in the Lady Sketch Art Blog HERE
I enjoy nothing more than creating personalised works of art. If you’re looking for a truly original gift for someone you love, I’m your gal. Simply supply me with a photo, and a vague colour scheme, then let me do the rest.
